This early book by prolific illustrator Susan Jeffers, was her first real success. In Three Jovial Huntsmen, a traditional Mother Goose verse is complimented by humorous pictures in which the aforementioned huntsmen spend a day searching for animals that are clearly obvious to the reader but elude the huntsmen. Awarded a Caldecott Honor in 1974, this book launched Jeffers’ career. With a previous owner’s name on the front blank endpaper, this first edition is in VG+ condition in a Fine dust jacket.
