Based on a true story by Reiko Sassa, a friend of the author/illustrator, The Stray Dog was awarded a Caldecott Honor in 2002. This simple story of a family who finds, befriends, and eventually adopts a stray dog named Willy is warmly illustrated by Caldecott Medal-winner Simont (for A Tree is Nice). This first edition copy is in Fine condition in a Fine dust jacket.
