Few children's illustrators have burst on the scene with such success as Chris Van Allsburg did with The Garden of Abdul Gasazi, a Caldecott Honor Book in 1980. Simply using a graphite pencil, Van Allsburg created an astonishing array of beautiful black and white pictures illuminating a humorous story of a boy, a dog, and a magician. The author/illustrator has gone on to a successful career with books such as Jumanji, The Polar Express, and The Mysteries of Harris Burdick, but this is where it all began. A Fine first edition copy in a Fine dust jacket.
