Sixteen-year-old Hope and her Aunt Addie travel from town to town, cooking and waitressing at diners. When they are uprooted from New York City and land in a small town in rural Wisconsin, they settle in, hoping to adapt to their new surroundings. When the diner owner opts to enter a heated political race, however, Hope is thrown into a fascinating and often hilarious mix of corruption, political intrigue, and her past dreams and fears. Joan Bauer’s Hope Was Here was a 2001 Newbery Honor Book. This first printing with a complete number line is in Fine condition in dj.
