This large (24 x 18-1/2”) poster was created upon publication of the book Great Moments in Architecture (Boston: Houghton Mifflin), by David Macaulay in 1978. Macaulay is a Caldecott Medal recipient for Black and White in 1991 and the author of a series of magnificently illustrated non-fiction books such as Pyramid (Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1975) and Castle (Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1977). Architecture is a humorous spin-off of these earlier titles, with absurd depictions of familiar sites (here, L’Arc de Defeat). Signed by Macaulay beneath his printed name, this poster is in VG+ condition.
