One of the most famous, widely read, and influential young adult novels ever published, The Outsiders, by S.E. (Susan Eloise) Hinton remains as popular today as when it was first issued in 1967. Written while she was still a high school student (and published using just her first initials to disguise the fact that it was the work of young woman), this is the story of two rival gangs in an Oklahoma high school, the Greasers and the Socs.
