Everyone knows Ludwig Bemelmans for his Madeline series, but he authored and illustrated many additional books in his inimitable style. Rosebud is based on an old African legend. Rosebud the rabbit is a happy fellow until he reads a book that extols the strength and fearlessness of other animals, but describes rabbits as weak and scared.
