A first edition in dust jacket of Robert McCloskey's first book. Lentil tells the story of a young boy who cannot sing and learns to play the harmonica instead. A wonderful evocation of small town America captured in McCloskey's remarkable black and white illustrations, Lentil saves the day when the town's hero arrives on the train and the welcoming band is unable to play. In VG+ condition (with a child's bookplate on the half title page) in an About VG price clipped dj (with some wear and a few chips).
