Howard R. Garis’ singular creation, Uncle Wiggly, was one of the most popular children’s characters of the early 20th century. Garis published scores of books in various formats, many illustrated by Lang Campbell. Here, one of the rarest, Uncle Wiggily’s Painting Play, features four-panel black and white pages, waiting for painting by children’s hands. Amazingly, this copy is in Fine condition, unused and generally bright and crisp. The interior covers feature full-color printed examples of how to color the panels and a final page provides painting tips.
