George McManus was an early American cartoonist, best known for his creation of the Irish immigrant couple, Jiggs and Maggie. He was also the creator of the first family comic strip, The Newlyweds, featuring an upscale young couple and their new baby, Snookers. The Newlyweds and Their Baby is a compilation of those strips with alternating pages in black and white and full color. In VG+ condition with some exterior edge wear, this would make a terrific gift for a contemporary couple raising a family or an afficiano of early comics. Scarce.
