Larger and even heavier than Giant Golden Books were (you guessed it!) Deluxe Golden Books. Intended...primarily...for their educational value, the Deluxe series includes Scandinavian Fairy Tales, written by Giordano Pitt (and translated by Leon King), with striking illustrations by Federico Santin. Originally published in Italy by Fratelli Fabbri, this was acquired by Golden Books and released in English in 1962. Among the myths and fairy tales included are "Olaf and the King of the Elves," "Eric the Red," "The Magic Mirror," and "The Picture That Came to Life." A first edition (with an A500500 mark inside the front boards) in About Fine condition.
