Pat the Bunny is simply one of the most significant (and rarest) children’s books ever published. Dorothy Kunhardt’s family were Lincoln collectors, but financial strife in her early married life steered her towards creating books for her own children. Along with The Telephone Book (also in this catalog), Pat the Bunny was one of the first manipulative books for pre-readers. Kids can stroke a furry bunny, put their finger through a ring, feel Daddy’s scratchy face, and so on. The very first edition of this classic work featured a squeaky ball, soon removed and replaced with a button box, also removed for fear of choking. This edition features the button box plus flowers to smell, both indications of a VERY early printing. In fine condition in an About Fine original, internally strengthened, box.
