Part of the Walt Disney series of Little Golden Books, Goliath II (#D83) is most notable as the very first book written and illustrated by the beloved Bill Peet. Peet was a Disney storyman and artist, working on an incredible number of animated films including Song of the South, Fantasia, Dumbo, Pinocchio, and many others. Later made into an animated short, teeny tiny Goliath II is the son of the largest elephant in the jungle, his father Goliath I (natch!). Scorned by his father and fellow elephants, Goliath II finds it difficult to prove himself...until he defeats a tough mouse who has terrorized the herd. A first edition (A) in VG condition with a bit of external wear.
