H.A. Rey, of course, is one half of the amazing husband-and-wife team that gave us Curious George among other stand outs, but Look for the Letters (subtitled A Hide-and-Seek Alphabet) is one of my favorites. Each two-page spread is devoted to a black and white rendering (on the left-hand page) of the letter in block and script as it transforms into a full color illustration (on the right hand page) of a surreal scene featuring multiple objects beginning with or including the featured letter: “The Kind Keeper carries the Key of the monKey cage,” for example.
