This is the earliest piece of original artwork being offered in this catalog. John Gee was a popular early twentieth century artist based in Ohio who contributed illustrations to a number of publications, notably The Timbertoes (Harter, 1932 and subsequently picked up by Highlights for Children and ran for over fifty years!), Bunnie Bear (Volland, 1928), and Deenie Folks and Friends of Theirs (Volland, 1925). Samuel Snail is an original pen and watercolor illustration for Child Life Magazine, a children's magazine begun in 1922. Measuring 8-1/2 x 8-1/2" and framed to 10 x 10," this is signed in full and in Fine condition. Shipping for this item will be determined by location (but will not exceed the least expensive, most secure option).
