This lovely nighttime book was illustrated by the noted artist, muralist and close friend of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, Lucien Bloch. Each double-page spread features one page of questions that a mother asks her young child prior to bed (“How many fingers? How many toeses?”) while the opposite page features a tranquil illustration of the child (or mother and child). It all leads up to bedtime (“How many blankets tucked round just right? How many kisses to say…GOOD NIGHT!”). With a limited pallet, just black and white, pink and light blue, Bloch does a masterful job. A first edition from a special publisher in Fine condition.
