R.F. Outcault's Buster Brown was one of the great comic creations of the early 20th century. Four of his mis-adventures were captured in Saalfield's Muslin Books, including 1907's Buster Brown and the Donkey. The all-cloth format was meant to be washed and survive children's rough treatment. In a nearly wordless tale, Buster's donkey gets spooked and hightails it off the road, through a house, and out a window. The back cover features Buster and his dog, Tige, extolling the virtues of Saalfield's products. In About Fine condition. A real rarity.
