Generosity repaid is the spirit of Always Room for One More, a Caldecott Medal-winner for 1966. Based on a traditional Scottish folk song, the text relates the story of Lachie MacLachlan and his wife and ten children, all of whom live in a tiny house in the heather. Their lack of space doesn't deter them from inviting in guest after guest until the house collapses. The guests repay their kindness by building an even bigger and better dwelling. As is usual with Caldecott winners, the text is strong, but the real delight is in the illustrations by Nonny Hogrogian, working with a limited pallet and strong cross hatching and creating terrific double-page spreads. This first edition is in Fine condition in a Near Fine dust jacket with medal.
