Wee Gillis (a 1939 Caldecott Honor book) was the second collaboration between author Munro Leaf and illustrator Robert Lawson and if the result did not quite live up to Ferdinand, their first together....well, what could? Wee Gillis grows up in Scotland where his family is sorely divided: his father comes from the Highlanders and stalks stags and his mother from the Lowlanders and calls long-haired cows. When the time comes for Wee Gillis to decide which way to go, the young boy finds a way to bridge the gap. Signed by Munro Leaf on the half title page. A first edition in VG+ condition in a VG dust jacket.
