A coming-of-age story that follows Julie Trelling from seven to seventeen, Irene Hunt's Up a Road Slowly was awarded the Newbery Medal in 1967. Following her mother's death, Julie moves in with her unmarried Aunt Cordelia, a strict schoolteacher. Her Uncle Haskell, an alcoholic with aspirations to be a writer, lives apart in a carriage house on the property. As Julie grows and changes, she develops a more mature appreciation of her aunt and uncle. A first edition in VG+ condition (with faint stains to the top if the boards) in a VG+ price-clipped dust jacket.
