Following its publication in England in 1902, Peter Rabbit failed to receive a copyright in the United States leading to a wide variety of Potter "piracies." Even later, the character's name was widely applied to books that had little to do with the original creation. Altemus and, later, Platt & Munk published a series of titles...collected here in The Peter Rabbit Story Book...including Beatrix Potter's original plus When Peter Rabbit Went A-Fishing, Peter Rabbit's Holiday, Peter Rabbit and the Little Girl, and Peter Rabbit's Wedding Day. The first three are written by Linda Stevens Almond and the last by May Wynne; all are illustrated by Bess Goe Willis. An early reprint with an advertisement to buy U.S. War Bonds on the back flap of the dust jacket. Fine in a VG+ dj.
