The Great Wheel was famed author-illustrator Robert Lawson's final book, published posthumously in the year of his death and recognized as a Newbery Honor Book in 1958. Before Conn Kilroy leaves Ireland for American, his aunt predicts that he will ride the biggest wheel in the world. Arriving in the States, he lands a job in New York City working for a company constructing the very first Ferris Wheel for Chicago's Columbian Exposition of 1893. Adventure and romance follow.
