Making up, perhaps for overlooking the original Madeline back in 1940 and naming it an Honor Book rather than awarding it the Caldecott Medal (Abraham Lincoln by the d'Aulaires won that year) Ludwig Bemelman's Madeline's Rescue took home the medal in 1954. In another wonderful story with two-and full-color illustrations that approach fine art, Madeline is rescued from a fall in the Seine by a dog, Miss Genevieve. When the home's board of trustees turn the pet out during their annual inspection, the search for her begins. In About Fine condition in a like, price clipped dust jacket with some minor archival repairs.
