Wilder's Little House series went through two significant editions. The first books, illustrated by Helen Sewell, were issued serially in the 1930's and '40's. The second, featuring re-imagined illustrations by Garth Williams, were issued all at once in 1953. Identifying first editions/printings are difficult for both issuances, but can be partly determined in the later series by the wording on the back flap of the dust jacket: "Mrs. Wilder, now in her eighties, is living on the farm in Missouri..." Shortly after the series was released, Wilder died and the wording was changed. Little House in the Big Woods is a first edition (with a previous owner's inscription dated 1954) in About Fine condition in a VG, price-clipped, dust jacket with minor wear.
