Cynthia Kadohata's Kira-Kira is another of the Newbery Award-winning books that make it fun (and difficult) for enthusiasts to complete collections. Published early in the preceding year and in a very small original print run, most copies of this well-reviewed book wound up in public libraries and first editions of this 2005 Newbery Medal-winner in collectible condition are few and far between. This is the story of a Japanese-American family and two sisters, Katie and her older sister Lynn. Katie idolizes Lynn and struggles to find friends in their small Georgia town and to come to terms with her sister's illness. A Fine first edition in a Fine dust jacket.
