Jean Craighead George's 1973 Newbery Medal book, Julie of the Wolves, is the story of a girl divided between two worlds. When 13-year-old Miyax is forced to flee her Eskimo village and a brutal marriage, she decides to travel to San Francisco to visit her pen pal, Amy, who always calls her Julie. Lost in the tundra, she is adopted and saved by a family of wolves, but when it comes time to leave, she is torn between her old world and the new. A first edition in VG+ condition in a like dust jacket (with small light stains on the lower corners, not affecting the interior).
