Set in the depths of the Great Depression, Christopher Paul Curtis' Bud, Not Buddy (Newbery Medal-winner, 2000) is the story of orphaned Bud Caldwell, a ten-year-old in Flint, Michigan. Following his mother's death, he inherits three unusual items: a bag of rocks, a photo of his mother, and fliers for Herman E. Calloway's jazz band. Shuttling between orphanages, foster homes, and the open road, Bud goes in search of Calloway, the man he believes is his father. A first edition in Fine condition in dust jacket. The jacket exists in two states, the earliest priced at $15.95 and a second later state at $16.95. This is the earlier issue.
