Rojankovsky’s much-loved illustrations in three- and full-color reveal a familiar story as Frog proposes to Miss Mouse, gets her father’s consent, and throws a grand party which is crashed and broken up by a ferocious cat. Despite a decidedly unhappy ending in the original Scottish folk song, Lagstaff’s Frog Went A-Courtin’ ends with the happy couple enjoying a honeymoon trip to France. This volume has a VG dust jacket with a small closed tear, a worn, complete spine, and what appears to be water staining along the front cover’s extremities. The book itself is in at least VG+ condition with some of my all-time favorite color illustrations…a worthy and hard to find first edition, first printing Caldecott-winner.
