Blue Ribbon Press not only trademarked the term “pop-up,” but was among the first to offer pop-up and movable books featuring characters from popular culture: Mickey Mouse, Buck Rogers, Little Orphan Annie, and more. Their books were available in a variety of formats, but among the scarcest are the small (4 x 5”) Midget Pop-Up Books with only one (always terrific) full-color pop-up in the centerfold. The “Pop-Up” Popeye (NY: Blue Ribbon, 1934) features black and white illustrations on every other page and a pop-up in the center by E.C. Segar. In VG+ condition with some cover wear and browning pages. Internally About Fine, scarce, and very collectible.
